Through the Eyes of the Piping Plovers: The Flora, Fauna and Communities of the Lake Plain
Presented by Lake County Audubon Society and the Sharing our Shore-Waukegan Initiative, this special art and education exhibition celebrates the return of endangered Great Lakes Piping Plovers to nest in Waukegan and highlights the rich plant and wildlife communities that share this unique lakefront habitat. The show features more than 50 artists and over 140 works of art alongside interactive educational displays about migration, conservation, and the Lake Plain ecosystem
Illinois Dunesland Restoration Project Weekly workday at Illinois Beach State Park
On Saturday February 28th, we’ll build fires and cut brush and pole trees together. Meet at the Nature Center Parking Lot a few minutes before 9AM. Dress in layers and wear natural fiber clothing. Bring water and a snack to share if you like. Everyone is invited to come, learn, lead, and make a difference.
Chiwaukee Prairie Preservation Fund Monthly Workday in Chiwaukee Prairie State Natural Area
Volunteer on our Chiwaukee Prairie Work Days as we to restore quality habitat for prairie plants and animals. All we need is you to help! No experience necessary. On the job training! Wear old clothes, sturdy shoes or boots, hats and gloves. We have tools and the equipment to get the job done. If the weather is warm, be sure to bring plenty of water. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to sign-in. We hope to see you there!
